Bollywood actress’ father marries for fourth time at 70

In 1992, Aamir Khan’s film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar premiered in cinemas and received positive reviews from the audience. Kabir Bedi’s daughter Pooja Bedi played the role of Aamir’s girlfriend in the film and gained a lot of popularity. However, despite her increased fame, she failed to capitalize on it and eventually quit the film industry after five or six years.

Pooja Bedi’s father Kabir Bedi enjoyed quite a reputation in his heyday. His name is often in the headlines due to his romantic relationships with various actresses. However, what really surprised everyone was his fourth marriage at the age of 70, to a woman younger than his daughter. Likewise, Pooja Bedi’s life was also filled with controversies, including her love-related religious conversion. Despite her turbulent personal life, Pooja tried to return to acting after her marriage ended in divorce.

Pooja Bedi tied the knot with Farhan Furniturewala, a Gujarati Muslim, in 1990. They exchanged vows in May 1994 and after their marriage Pooja converted to Islam and adopted the name Noorjahan. They have two children, including Alaya Furniturewala. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 2003. In February 2019, Pooja Bedi announced her engagement to Maneck Contractor.

After her divorce, Pooja started participating in various activities outside the film industry. What is less known is that her film career was not prolific, and her acting career stalled within five or six years. Pooja has acted in several films in her career, including “Lootere”, “Aatank Hi Aatank”, “Shakti” and “Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee”. Her last noteworthy role was in Masaba Masaba, in which she had an extended cameo.

Pooja Bedi was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) on May 11, 1970, to the late Indian classical dancer Protima and her mother, actor Kabir Bedi. Her ancestry includes Punjabi Sikh and British ancestry on her father’s side, and Bengali and Haryanvi ancestry on her mother’s side. She grew up in what she describes as a “bohemian progressive art environment.”
