A former Jail officer from HMP Frankland has expressed concern about the safety of the employees after a recent attack, in which Manchester Arena Bomber’s brother Hashham Abedi downed the authorities in boiled urine and hot oil. MetroDespite having a high-protection facility HMP Frankland, an officer suffered a third-degree burning, and two others were stabbed, requiring emergency surgery.
They told Metro, ‘I could not sleep at night after the attack because I know what they are doing. They can never go back to work. ,
Officers, who did not name, worked in the jail system for four years before deciding to leave due to job stress.
The former officer, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that such incidents stop only when the government prioritize the safety of the employees at the comfortable prisoner. He narrated his experiences of punch, kicked and boiling urine during his four years in the prison arrangement, resigning him.
After helping his brother Salman to bomb Manchester bombing in 2017, Abedi was placed on the wings separated from other prisoners to prevent someone else from making them radical.
Three employees would have been assigned to see and stay with him at all times after attacking another jail officer while in HMP Belmarsh in 2020.
He said, ‘Frankland was one of the safest and most staff prisons I worked on, and if you cannot stop serious attacks there, where can you do?’
‘If it was not going to be hot cooking oil, it was going to be something else – the number of people he can attack, we are out to attack. He will one day kill someone. ,
About 20 prisoners are placed in separation units in HMP Frankland and second in HMP Full Sutton in Yorkshire.
