Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Thursday said the protesting farmers led by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) will observe ‘Black Friday’ on Friday following the death of a farmer at the Khanauri border crossing in Punjab’s Sangrur district. Ongoing protests.

The SKM will also organize a tractor march on the highways towards the national capital, the BKU leader said.

In an exclusive conversation with ANI, Mr Tikait said, “We will observe ‘Black Friday’ tomorrow while mourning the death of a farmer at Khanauri border crossing in Punjab. We had also taken out a tractor march yesterday.”

Mr Tikait further announced that the protesting farmers will take out a tractor march on February 26.

“On February 26, we will take tractors to the highway, and go on the route that goes to Delhi. It will be a one-day programme, and then we will return. Then, all over India, our meetings will continue. On March 14 There will be a program for a day at Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi. People will go to that program without tractors. The government keeps saying that they are not stopping us, so let’s see whether they will stop us or not.” Added.

Mr Tikait led the farmers’ protest organized in 2020-21 to repeal the three farm laws, which were later withdrawn by the central government.

Meanwhile, general secretary of Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti said that the farmers have stopped their ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest march for two days to take stock of the ongoing situation at the Shambhu border in Haryana and further decisions will be taken accordingly. . Thursday.

The farmer leader condemned the central government’s action against the protesters through paramilitary forces, which left hundreds injured.

However, Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda said on Thursday that although several rounds of discussions have been held with farmers, more efforts will have to be made by both sides to reach a consensus.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Central Government to work for the interests of farmers.

The protesting farmers have been camping at the Shambhu border near Ambala since the protests began. Several farmers and police personnel were injured in the clashes during the march that began on February 13.
