Bengaluru, Oct 30 (IANS) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said he stands by his statement that the Dharmasthala issue arose out of internal conflict among BJP leaders.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that whatever loss could have been caused to the individual, family and organization in the Dharamsthal case, has already been done.
He said, “Our wish is that both religion and justice should prevail.”
Shivkumar said that the personality of Dharmadhikari and BJP Rajya Sabha member Virendra Hegde is unique.
He said, “I feel bad that the name of such an institution is being tarnished. Just as Tirupati is known for the vows taken through offerings of money, similarly the shrine is known for the vows taken through words. Once such a vow is taken, it cannot be broken. I believe that any institution which works in such a disciplined manner will not face any problem.”
He said he made these comments based on his personal understanding and experience of the traditions followed and practices observed there at the shrine.
He said that Home Minister Parameshwara has said that the report will be submitted soon.
He said, “He must have filed thousands of petitions before the court. When someone commits a crime, the law of this country provides an opportunity to seek apology. The media should discuss that aspect.”
Asked about reports that ministers have submitted a three-month performance report to the high command in connection with the cabinet reshuffle, Shivakumar said he did not know whether the report was sought about other issues or ministers.
“A survey is regularly conducted every month within our party – about our work in the constituency, in the party and in the government. Reports are regularly sent to the high command. They also collate their reports. We also send monthly updates about party activities,” he said.
