Narendra Modi will contest elections from Varanasi for the third consecutive time.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has announced the first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, where they are expected to win 370 seats. The list includes 34 Union ministers as the party had tried its best to come up with names even before the Election Commission announced the election schedule.
These stalwarts are in the party’s first list of candidates for the 2024 elections:
Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will once again contest elections from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. He has already won from this constituency twice and is hoping for a hat-trick this time.
In 2014, PM Modi defeated Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and in 2019 he won against Samajwadi Party’s Shalini Yadav.
Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who led the party to a landslide victory in the 2014 general elections, will contest from Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
Rajnath Singh
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will contest from Lucknow in the upcoming elections.

Jyotiraditya Scindia
Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia will contest from Guna in Madhya Pradesh, a constituency the former Congress leader held from 2002 until he lost it to BJP’s Krishna Pal Singh Yadav in 2019.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was not made the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh despite the BJP’s landslide victory last year, seems to be moving towards a national role as he will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Vidisha.
Kiran Rijiju
Kiren Rijiju, who currently holds the Earth Sciences portfolio, will contest from Arunachal West. Since the BJP came to power for a second term in 2019, Rijiju has headed several key ministries such as law and youth affairs.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar
Union minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar has been fielded by the BJP for a major fight in Thiruvananthapuram, a seat held by Congress’ Shashi Tharoor.
Mr Chandrashekhar, who is among the ministers who has not been re-nominated to the Rajya Sabha, recently told PTI that he was looking forward to contesting his first Lok Sabha election and looking forward to “an even more exciting phase” in his political career. “Waiting for.”
South Malini
Actress-politician Hema Malini has again been fielded from Mathura. In the 2014 and 2019 elections, the veteran Bollywood actor had registered an emphatic victory both times by a margin of over 3 lakh votes.
Bhupender Yadav
A stalwart for the BJP in facing challenges, Bhupendra Yadav is stepping into his first Lok Sabha election after serving as a party functionary for more than two decades. Mr Yadav, the BJP’s choice from Rajasthan’s Alwar, is recognized as a non-controversial person who deals with issues efficiently.
The BJP won 303 seats in the 2019 elections, but currently has 290 members in the Lok Sabha due to various reasons, including some MPs who resigned after winning the recent assembly elections.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the election schedule later this month and the elections are likely to be held in April-May.
