Kolkata, 7 October (IANS) BJP from West Bengal on Tuesday demanded an inquiry into a National Investigation Agency (NIA) of the attack on party MP Khagan Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh.
The state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya also questioned why the accused was not arrested 24 hours after the incident.
On the other hand, the leader of the leader (LOP) Suvendu Officer threatened to move the Calcutta High Court if the accused is not arrested on Tuesday.
Referring to the attack on Bhattacharya’s BJP MP Khagan Murmu at a press conference in Kolkata, “We are demanding an NIA investigation in the incident. It cannot continue repeatedly. If someone feels that the BJP can be scared by attacking an MP and he is bleeding from blood, then they are wrong.”
Attacking the state administration, not a day after the incident, not to arrest the accused, the state BJP president said, “Those who used to carry out the attack yesterday, even if they were hidden, our government (Center) will pull them out through the legal system.”
Meanwhile, after a large -scale landslide of at least 36 people, the omist officer in North Bengal also criticized the Mamata Banerjee government for failure to arrest the culprits.
Talking to media persons here, LOP said, “If no arrests are made till this evening (Tuesday), we will go to the Calcutta High Court holiday bench tomorrow. Yesterday, we saw that our leaders were attacked while providing relief. People who were attacked were seen in the video of the incident.
Sending a message to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Lopa Officer said, “This is not the time of politics. We have to stand with each other and work together if necessary. Now no one is taking the party flag while helping people. Why did they attack Khagan Murmu, Shankar Ghosh? It is very unfortunate.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has sought an immediate report from the West Bengal government on the brutal attack on BJP MP Khagan Murmu.
Union Minister Rijiju arrived in North Bengal on Tuesday to take stock of the devastating damage caused by heavy rains.
On Monday, BJP Maldaha North MP Khagen Murmu and party MLA Shankar Ghosh were brutally attacked by miscreants, while in North Bengal to meet landslide affected people and distribute relief materials.
While Ghosh faced minor injuries, two -time BJP MP Khagen Murmu faced serious injuries on his face and head.
The incident took place in Nagkata in Jalpaiguri district of North Bengal.
BJP MP Khagan Murmu was taken to a primary health center for immediate treatment.
Currently, BJP MP is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Siliguri in North Bengal. His condition is stable.
West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has already visited the injured MP at the hospital.
The BJP on Monday evening filed a complaint against eight people at Nagkata police station in Jalpaiguri district and held a protest outside the police station, demanding action against the accused.
However, no one has been arrested so far in connection with the incident.
