Bengaluru, 22 September (IANS) slammed the caste census by the Karnataka government, which began on Monday, the BJP has urged the state government to leave the Christian tags for the Hindu castes.
Speaking at a press conference in the BJP state office, Jagannath Bhavan in Bangalore, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chacharavadi Narayanaswamy said on Monday, “Does the government intend to promote a particular religion?
He demanded that the Christian tag associated with the name of caste should not be included in the survey.
He said that the state government has no right to do caste census.
“You have declared it as a socio-economic survey. But in this process, you have added Christian tags to Andhra, etc. Karnataka, Adi Dravid, Banjra, Budga Jangam, Holya, and so on Christian tags in the prescribed caste groups. He asked.
He called the survey one by the Government of Karnataka.
“You do not need to ask in the survey of which caste a person belongs to or which religion they follow; It is not necessary for the official record. Still, adding names like Kuruba Christian, Vokaliga Christian is illegal. If this is done, caste struggle will continue endlessly,” they warned.
He said, “If the government intends to ensure that no community in the state is in peace, let people tell people what kind of report of the Commission of this backward classes would produce,” he commented.
“Was this survey planned under the guidance of Trump? Did Sonia Gandhi direct you to do so? Does the common people submit the application or take them to the streets who demand in addition to Christian tags?” Narayanaswamy asked sarcastically.
He said, “People have already taken the streets against it. Except the Chief Minister, the entire Congress cabinet is opposing it. The BJP leadership is against it. JD (S) is against it. Religious leaders, community elders, all are opposing you,” he said.
He alleged that amidst widespread confusion, the government has carried forward with a caste survey through the backward classes commission starting today. “This is not new. The Kanthaju Commission had already conducted a survey. The government did not accept it. Where did this report go? They say it was lost – it was gold? This government has also failed to detect a theft report,” he ridiculed.
He said, “The cost of the first commission is around Rs 180 crore. For the report of Jayaprakash Hegde Commission, you are silent about the expenses,” he said. “If Kantharaju’s report was accepted, it would respect the feelings of the people,” he argued.
“Now you are spending 425 crores again. Is this a Congress treasure? Are you bringing money from your homes?” He asked. “Who gave you the right to snatch public money in will?” he demanded.
“The development of the state is zero. You cannot respond to the difficulties of the people. You cannot even fill the pits in the cities. Industrialists are writing letters and tweeting about leaving the state. To divert people’s attention, you are creating confusion with this survey,” he accused.
“You claim that you will complete the survey of seven crore people in 15 days. By your own admission, the number of scheduled castes 1.07 crores. For him alone, you had to postpone the survey 3-4 times and took about two and a half months, and still you only covered 65 percent.”
“If you now claim that you finish the entire state in only 15 days, it should only be through satellite-based surveys,” he ridiculed.
Former Union Minister A. Narayanaswamy, BJP State Vice President N. Mahesh, BJP State spokesperson H. Venkatesh Doddari, retired IAS officer and BJP leader Anil Kumar, and State SC Morcha Office Secretary Prashant Kumar were present.
