BJP says BJP as an investigation into NHRC launch

Bhopal, 30 September (IANS) BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma said on Tuesday that Madras, which promotes religious adaptations, will not be allowed to work in Madhya Pradesh. He said that such institutions would be closed and strict instructions were issued to the district collectors to take immediate action.

The statement follows the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) verdict to investigate allegations of illegal conversion racket running through unauthorized Madrasas in various districts of the state. The racket allegedly targets Hindu children, enroll them in Madras, with the intention of converting them into Islam.

Speaking to IANS, Rameshwar Sharma said, “NHRC has taken cognizance of the matter. Strict action will be taken against Madrasas promoting religious conversions. Mulla and Maulvis involved will also face results. Children will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He further alleged that some Maulana were trying to convert non-Muslims by teaching Urdu, but emphasized that “no one in Madhya Pradesh could succeed through such means.”

Meanwhile, in response to the complaint, NHRC has written to the Principal Secretary of the School Education Department of Madhya Pradesh, directed to investigate the allegations and demanded an action taken within 15 days. Officials have also been asked to email a copy of the report.

The complaint on 26 September alleged that a well -organized illegal conversion racket was going on in several districts of Madhya Pradesh, targeting 556 Hindu children in 27 unauthorized Madrasas for adaptation to Islam.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh’s first five-and-a-half-year tough religious conversion law is branded in political circles, as the ‘Love Jihad’ law a picture was removed with its intention.

Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Ordinance, came into force in January 2020, and its successor, Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Act, 2021, promised unrelated action against religious conversions through forced, deception, or marriage.
