BJP leader killed by unknown assailants in Korba, Chhattisgarh

A local BJP leader was killed by unidentified assailants at a construction site in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district on Tuesday (December 23) morning, police said.

An official said the attack took place at around 10 am in Keshala village of Katghora area.

Korba Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari said construction contractor and Katghora Janpad Panchayat member Akshay Garg was attacked by three masked men with sharp weapons when he had gone to inspect the ongoing road construction.

He said, as per preliminary information, the attackers came in a black car and carried out a brutal attack.

The official said Garg was seriously injured and was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police said check posts have been set up to trace the attackers and the motive behind the murder is yet to be known.

The relatives of the deceased and a large number of supporters gathered outside the hospital and in view of the tense situation, police has been deployed there.
