Dharwad, Karnataka:

Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda on Sunday highlighted that the Indian government has significantly increased funding to Karnataka, which was earlier Rs 80,000 crore and has now been increased to Rs 1,000 crore. 2.93 trillion rupees.

JP Nadda said, “Today, the Congress party released an advertisement stating how much (funds) they had provided (to Karnataka). Today, the Indian government has increased the allocation to Karnataka by 4 times. How can the Congress level its case against Karnataka? They forget that they once donated Rs 80,000 crore to Karnataka and today, Prime Minister Modi donated Rs 293 crore. “

JP Nadda pointed to Congress’ longstanding failures, highlighting their inability to alleviate poverty over the past six decades.

“When Jawaharlal Nehru raised the slogan ‘Gareebi Hatao’, there were 50 per cent poverty. When Indira Gandhi said ‘Gareebi Hatao’, there were 60 per cent poverty. Rajiv Gandhi admitted that only 15 paise out of 1 rupee reaches the poor. Now Rahul Gandhi says he will eradicate poverty in one fell swoop, which they have not been able to do in 60 years.”

JP Nadda further highlighted the effectiveness of the Modi government’s current poverty alleviation schemes, especially the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana’, which he called the world’s largest scheme for the poor.

“80 million people receive free ration every month. Of these 80 million people, 40 million are from Karnataka,” he pointed out.

“According to the International Monetary Fund and NITI Aayog, 250 million people who were living below the poverty line are now living above the poverty line due to this scheme,” he said.

Earlier, BJP president Nadda attacked the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, saying they were indulging in corruption, promoting nepotism, enjoying cream, enjoying pleasure and forgetting about the public.

Slamming the UPA government, JP Nadda said, “What happened during the UPA government? They were corrupt, promoted nepotism, enjoyed cream, had fun but forgot about the public.”
