Bengaluru, Nov 21 (IANS) The BJP on Friday mocked the Congress-led government in Karnataka over the alleged leadership crisis in the state and challenged Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to confirm that Siddaramaiah will remain the chief minister of the state for the entire term.
Addressing a press conference at the party office, Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashok released a poster on completion of 2.5 years of Siddaramaiah government, criticizing it for “price hike” of essential commodities.
The title of the poster was ‘Two and a half years: Heavy burden on Kannadigas – exposing the misdeeds of the Congress government’.
He accused the government of being a “burden” on the people and a “disaster” for farmers.
The BJP leader claimed that “Siddaramaiah has threatened to remove the Congress MLAs who had gone to Delhi. Media reports also said that he has threatened not to release MLA Development Fund to those MLAs.”
He mocked, “On one hand, DK Shivakumar is going to Delhi and giving statements. On the other hand, Siddaramaiah questions why others went to Delhi. This is a two-and-a-half year circus of the Congress party.”
He accused the Congress-led government of being “hollow and a burden on the people”.
He also questioned the state government on the alleged power-sharing formula.
Pointing out the sharp contrast between the Center and the state government, Ashok said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi reduced the GST rates so that people can eat pure ghee and stay healthy. But the Congress government has increased the prices on that ghee too.”
He accused the government of being a “champion of price gouging, illegalities, scams and excessive borrowing”.
He commented, “They are champions in pushing farmers to death, champions in contractor suicides, champions in instigating caste conflict, and champions in sending maximum money to Delhi. In just two and a half years, you have become a champion in every negative thing.”
Taking a jibe at the Congress, he claimed, “The same MLAs who had elected Siddaramaiah as CM were going to Delhi and telling Kharge that they no longer want him. Yet Siddaramaiah claims there is no rebellion or confusion.”
