Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar, who is also the Bengaluru Development Minister, said Bengaluru has given opportunity, recognition and success to millions of people – it deserves collective effort, not constant criticism.
“Instead of tearing Bengaluru apart, let’s build it together. The world sees India through Bengaluru, and we owe it to our city to unite!” Shivkumar said.
Responding to this, Mazumdar-Shaw said, “I agree with you – this is a collective effort with a mentality of urgency and quality. Let’s show everyone how we can fix our city.”
Minister Santosh Lad had said, “I respect anyone who criticizes my government. You ask Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw for the central government’s reaction on GST? Ask her why she doesn’t speak about GST? She is afraid. We are proud that our government is democratic and anyone can criticize.”
Responding to a social media post by Majumdar-Shaw on poor road infrastructure and waste management in Bengaluru, IT and BT minister Priyank Kharge had questioned whether she would be able to make the same comment in states like Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw responded, “I am only demanding garbage removal and road reconstruction, which should be done by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). Government ministers need to be held responsible and accountable for the shoddy and slow work. Here, the government and citizens need to be on the same page.”
