Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Tuesday that he hopes his father Asif Ali Zardari will be re-elected as president.
People’s Party Chairman Zardari, 68, served as President of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013.
Announcing his withdrawal from the prime ministerial race at a press conference here, Bilawal said the PPP will support Muslim League-Sharif Party chief Nawaz Sharif in his bid for a record fourth term as prime minister, but he will not form the new government a part of. Think Zardari is the next president.
The current President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, plans to resign next month.
Bilawal asserted: “I am not saying this because he is my father, I am saying this because the country is in a huge crisis right now and if anyone can put out this fire, it is Asif Ali. Zardari.”
“The PPP has decided that we ourselves are not able or able to join the federal government and will not be interested in taking over ministries in such a body.
