Patna, Nov 20 (IANS) On the day Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar, the Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh congratulated the JDU leader and said that the double engine government model in the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is setting standards in the entire country.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “I extend good wishes and congratulations. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, this double engine government is setting standards across the country. Bihar’s development has moved forward and will continue to move forward. Important work will be done here and schemes for farmers, youth and the public will move forward at a fast pace. Infrastructure projects like highways, airports and rail services will also move forward at a fast pace.”

Speaking to IANS, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said, “A new government has been formed in Bihar. On my part, I congratulate the formation of the new Bihar cabinet. The way Bihar is on the path of development, I want to congratulate everyone.”

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “Today the historic swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of PM Modi. And the way the people have given their mandate, the double engine government will now work very fast to fulfill all the expectations.”

Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari said, “A double engine government has been formed again in Bihar. There is a very happy atmosphere. I congratulate everyone.”

Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered him the oath of office and secrecy at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Patna airport around 11 am and flew straight to the venue by helicopter to attend the ceremony.

At 11:30 am, Nitish Kumar took oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time. He first became Chief Minister in 2000, although his government lasted only seven days.

Since returning to power in 2005, he has been sworn in nine times, with Thursday being a historic tenth.

This was also the first time that PM Modi attended the swearing-in ceremony of Nitish Kumar.

Although Nitish Kumar has been sworn in five times since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, he has worked under both the NDA and the Grand Alliance during this period.
