New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) NDA leaders on Friday said the people of Bihar have rejected the grand alliance and have proved their faith in the ruling alliance, whose politics is based on development.
The leaders were reacting to early trends shown on the Election Commission website.
“From the beginning, we have been saying that the NDA will win. During the campaign, we all saw the popularity of PM Modi, CM Nitish Kumar and our party chief Chirag Paswan at the grassroots level. After winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, there were clear indications that during the assembly elections, the NDA will win,” said LJP (RV) MP Shambhavi Choudhary.
He said, “The people of Bihar believe that the ideology of the Grand Alliance is far from development, its roots are jungle raj, anarchy and its politics is based on caste and religion. The voters of Bihar have long rejected the Grand Alliance and the data clearly proves it.”
Similarly, JDU leader Ashok Chaudhary said, “We had earlier said that if you look at our statements before the first phase of elections, we expected to win more than two-thirds majority. If we cross 170 seats, the mandate we have got is exactly in line with that expectation…”
NDA is currently leading in more than 200 seats, while the Grand Alliance is leading in 36 seats.
The counting operations are being monitored by 243 returning officers and an equal number of counting observers appointed by the Election Commission.
More than 18,000 counting agents representing various candidates are present at the centers to closely monitor the process.
Entry into counting centers has been strictly restricted to persons with valid passes, and use of mobile phones inside the counting halls has been completely banned.
In the outgoing assembly, the NDA has 131 seats, including BJP’s 80, JD(U)’s 45, HAM(S)’s four and two independents. The opposition faction has 111 seats, of which RJD has 77, Congress has 19, CPI (ML) has 11, CPI (M) has two and CPI has two.
