Patna, October 8 (IANS) The seat sharing deadlock within the NDA in Bihar seems to be increasing, with the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) taking a tough stand.
Sources say that Chirag Paswan is unhappy with JDU’s stand on seat sharing.
In a sudden move, the LJPRV has called an emergency meeting of its key office-bearers at the party’s state headquarters in Patna on Thursday (October 9) at 10 am.
In this regard, a letter was issued from the office of Jamui Lok Sabha MP Arun Bharti, who was appointed in-charge of Bihar elections. He will preside over the meeting.
Party MPs, state general secretaries, vice presidents and cell presidents including Bihar election co-in-charge Raju Tiwari have been instructed to attend the meeting on time.
The meeting is expected to discuss important issues related to the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections and outline the party’s next step amid the current impasse.
It is believed that before taking any major decision regarding the alliance, the LJPRV leadership will hold internal discussions.
Meanwhile, sources say that talks between Chirag Paswan and BJP leaders are at a standstill.
Although Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Vinod Tawde had met Chirag in Delhi on October 7, Paswan was reportedly not satisfied with the proposal presented by the BJP.
On Wednesday, Chirag Paswan did not attend any meeting with BJP leaders as he was in Bihar to observe the death anniversary of his father, late Ram Vilas Paswan, in Khagaria.
Chirag left for Delhi on Wednesday night with the possibility of discussing seat sharing issues with the top BJP leadership on Thursday.
With only three days left for the nomination process to begin for the Bihar Assembly elections, uncertainty looms large within the NDA.
Adding to the unrest, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron Jitan Ram Manjhi has also stepped up his rebellious stance, demanding 15 seats and hinting at dissent within the alliance.
