Hazeribagh, for several decades after independence, 28 September (IANS), women from across the country, especially rural belts, smoke and difficulties in the kitchen. Cooking food on wood and coal stoves not only took longer time, but also caused irreparable damage to crores of women’s health.
However, the launch of the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) opened the doors for a complete change in lifestyle along with its kitchen. Today, women scores across the country including Hazaribagh are benefiting from this scheme, changing their lifestyle significantly.
Ruby Devi, a resident of Navadih village in Ichak block of Hazribagh, told IANS how her life changed after taking membership of clean fuel under the PMUYY scheme.
He said, “cooking on wood and coal stoves was a very laborious task. In addition, it caused many problems, including persistent diseases. However, after receiving LPG connections under the scheme, cooking has become easy and safe for us,” he said.
He further said: “Now we can cook fast and stay home cleaner. We can use the time saved for other tasks.”
Another woman from the village Babita Devi said that the LPG connection not only made cooking easy, but also saved time. He is now able to dedicate time to his farm and other domestic work.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that this scheme has simplified his life and has made his kitchen work easy and healthy.
Many other women in the district shared a similar opinion about the Ujjwala scheme and recalled the fierce experience compared to the first healthy and easy option. He said that problems like eye irritation due to cold, cough and smoke have reduced considerably.
In particular, PMAY is a major scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-Nedic government, which was launched in 2016, such as LPG available in rural and deprived houses such as efficient cooking fuel, which used traditional cooking fuels such as firewood, coal, cow-dobe cakes, etc.
