Patna, October 8 (IANS) Union MSME Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron Jatan Ram Manjhi has once again reiterated his demand for 15 seats to contest elections in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
Posting on his official X account on Wednesday, Manjhi used a poetic reference to the epic Mahabharata to make his point.
He wrote, “If there is justice, give half; If there is a problem with it, only 15 grams (village). Keep your land completely – we will eat it happily; we will not raise the sword against our family.”
The post is seen as a symbolic message for BJP and JD (U) – Senior Partner in the NDA alliance – urge them to allocate Hams a fair part of the seats.
In the 2020 Bihar assembly elections, Ham contested seven seats and won four – Imamganj, Barachti, Tikari and Sikandra – a strong strike rate within the NDA fold.
Initially, Manjhi had demanded 40 seats for the 2025 elections, but has now reduced its demand to 15.
Sources indicate that Ham is especially eager to contest from Shergati and Atri constituencies in Gaya district.
As the seat-sharing conversation between NDA colleagues reaches their final stages, Manjhi’s poetry appeal adds another layer of pressure to the coalition leadership to accommodate small but influential partners.
Small NDA partners, including Chirag Paswan’s folk public party (Ram Vilas), Rashtri Lok Morcha of Upendra Kushwaha, and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Ham) of Jitan Ram Manjhi, pressurized the “respectable” seats for seats for seats in the state elections.
According to sources, Chirag Paswan has demanded about 40 seats for his party, although both BJP and JD (U) are not allegedly ready to accept such a number of number.
The goal of balanceing all the parties before the Election Commission’s deadline is still going on.
A high-level NDA meeting is expected to be held in Patna soon, where the top coalition leaders will finalize the seat-sharing formula before the official announcement.
