Patna, November 19 (IANS) Nitish Kumar was unanimously elected as the leader of the NDA in an important meeting of the NDA legislature party held on Wednesday in the Central Hall of the Bihar Assembly.
With this formal endorsement, he is all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar once again.
During the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary proposed Nitish Kumar’s name for the leadership role, which was supported by Vijay Kumar Sinha.
On this occasion, all the newly elected MLAs of NDA were present and unanimously approved the proposal.
When Nitish Kumar reached the Central Hall, he greeted the MLAs and supporters with folded hands.
After being elected as the NDA leader, he went to Raj Bhavan to stake claim to form the new government.
NDA leaders appreciated the performance of the alliance in the assembly elections.
Upendra Kushwaha thanked the women voters of Bihar for making an important contribution in the historic victory of NDA.
Giving credit to the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said that there is unprecedented coordination among the NDA allies at the grassroots level.
“People saw unity in the NDA. Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Modi, we will fulfill the promises made in our manifesto,” he said.
Vijay Kumar Choudhary said women and youth across the state showed remarkable enthusiasm for the NDA, noting that women voters set a new record in turnout.
After the meeting, Union Minister Chirag Paswan confirmed the unanimous election of Nitish Kumar as the leader of the NDA legislature party.
He said that after tomorrow’s swearing-in ceremony, “every promise made in the manifesto will be fulfilled one by one.”
Preparations are already underway for Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in on Thursday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, several Union ministers, chief ministers of various BJP-ruled states and other dignitaries are expected to attend the event.
In view of the arrival of VVIP, special security and traffic arrangements have been made from Patna Airport to Gandhi Maidan.
