Patna, November 17 (IANS) As the NDA intensified preparations for the swearing-in ceremony in Patna, speculations intensified due to a sudden political development late on Monday night.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and JDU Working President Sanjay Jha suddenly left for Delhi on a chartered flight.
Sources reveal that both senior JDU leaders have been summoned to Delhi by the BJP high command.
His sudden departure has raised the question whether there was any last-minute hindrance in the formation of the new government.
However, neither Lalan Singh nor Sanjay Jha made any comment when asked by media persons at Patna airport.
Meanwhile, efforts to form government in Bihar are progressing rapidly. The NDA legislature party meeting will be held on November 19, in which the alliance will formally elect its leader.
It is believed that Nitish Kumar will resign on the same day, after which the 17th Bihar Assembly will be dissolved.
The swearing in ceremony will take place at Gandhi Maidan on 20th November.
The event is going to be a grand celebration, which is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of various states, Deputy Chief Ministers and many prominent personalities.
Bihar BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal said preparations were going on on a “war footing”.
Earlier on Monday, the last cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the Cabinet Secretariat.
Both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were also present during the cabinet meeting.
The cabinet meeting lasted only 15 minutes and three proposals were approved.
After the meeting, Nitish Kumar along with Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary visited Raj Bhavan to submit the cabinet recommendations to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.
Nitish spent about 22 minutes at Raj Bhavan before returning to his residence.
He held further discussions with senior party leaders, adding to the political stir created by the sudden visit of key JDU leaders to Delhi.
