Patna, Nov 7 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the people of Bihar for the record turnout in the first phase of polling on November 6, calling it a testament to their growing faith and trust in the NDA’s double engine government at the Center and in the state.
Addressing a large gathering in Aurangabad, PM Modi said, “The people of Bihar have broken all records; this is the highest ever voting percentage in the state since independence. Nearly 65 per cent voting took place in the first phase. This shows that the youth, farmers and women of Bihar are coming to bless the BJP-led NDA.”
Recalling the Red Terror terror in the region during the RJD-Congress rule, the Prime Minister said Aurangabad bore the brunt of Naxalite violence for a long time, and it was under the Nitish-led government that it became free from the clutches of violence.
Elaborating on how the NDA government wiped out red terror, PM Modi said, “The region has been suffering from Maoist terror for a long time. During Jungle Raj, people were afraid to step out of their homes, but after ‘good governance’ came to Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, it brought an end to Naxalite terror. After the BJP government came to power at the Centre, a major crackdown on red terror was launched, which resulted in a return to people’s lives.”
The Prime Minister recalled the historic and landmark decisions taken in the 10 years of his tenure, highlighting the BJP’s habit and resolve to fulfill its election promises. “We promised construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, abrogation of Article 370, implementation of One Rank, One Pension scheme for the armed forces and we ensured that all of them were executed within a given time frame,” he said.
PM Modi said, “From the soil of Bihar, I had promised to take revenge for the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam. I want to ask you – did our forces not punish the criminals, did they not give a befitting reply to their evil intentions?”
PM Modi also tried to caution voters against the ‘fake’ promises of the Grand Alliance and said their return to power would mean the return of ‘Katta Sarkar’.
