New Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS) The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Friday released a joint manifesto, ‘Sankalp Patra’, for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, promising a host of measures including provision of one crore government jobs.

The NDA’s ‘sankalp patra’ was released this morning by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and BJP chief JP Nadda in Patna and comes less than a week before Phase 1 voting. All the leaders of NDA parties including Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan and Upendra Kushwaha were present on the stage.

The manifesto makes a big promise of providing one crore government jobs in a state known for large-scale migration of workers.

There is a special focus on women empowerment schemes, with an ambitious target of making one crore women ‘Lakhpati Didis’, effectively empowering them to earn Rs 1 lakh annually, besides offering financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh.

The manifesto promises a major infrastructure boost in the state including the construction of four international airports and expressways.

State Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary, later briefing the media about the manifesto, said, “The NDA promises to provide more than one crore government jobs and employment, conduct skills census, create skill-based employment, and establish Bihar as a global learning hub with mega learning centers in every district.”

The biggest announcement was regarding employment opportunities. NDA has promised to conduct skill census to provide skill based employment to every youth in Bihar.

“We will establish Bihar as a global skills hub with mega skill centers in every district,” the manifesto said.

Financial assistance up to Rs 2 lakh will be provided to women through Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana.

The manifesto promises an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in agricultural infrastructure, seven new expressways under the Bihar Gati Shakti initiative, metro services in four new cities, a mega skill center in every city, industries in every district and 10 new business parks, defense corridors and a semiconductor manufacturing park, etc.

A few days ago, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led grand alliance had released its manifesto titled ‘Bihar ka Tejasvi Pledge’, promising to pass a law to provide a government job to one member of every family in the state within 20 days of government formation.
