Patna, Oct 10 (IANS) The impasse over seat sharing within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections 2025 seems to be ending, with a formal announcement expected on Saturday.
According to sources, an agreement has been reached between Union Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding seat sharing.
Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is likely to get 25 to 26 seats, marking the end of a tense round of talks within the alliance.
Union Minister Nityanand Rai is said to have played an important role in resolving the impasse.
BJP entrusted him with the responsibility of talking to Chirag Paswan to reach a consensus.
Rai met Paswan four times in the last 24 hours in New Delhi and both leaders have now indicated that a positive outcome has been reached.
After their latest meeting on Friday, when asked about the talks, Chirag Paswan smiled and said, “What Rai said is the situation. All details will be shared at the appropriate time.”
Chirag Paswan also said that as long as PM Narendra Modi is here, he is not worried about anything.
Earlier, Rai had told reporters, “The smile on our faces says everything. Everything is positive.”
Meanwhile, another NDA ally, former chief minister and HAM(S) president Jitan Ram Manjhi is taking a tough stance on seat allocation.
Sources reveal that Jitan Ram Manjhi is emphasizing not only on the number of seats but also on contesting elections from specific constituencies of his choice.
After ending discussions with Chirag Paswan, Nityanand Rai also met Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP in-charge for Bihar assembly elections.
Bihar NDA has five constituents, including BJP, JD-U, Chirag Paswan-led LJ-PRV, Jitan Ram Manjhi-led HAM and Upendra Kushwaha-led RLM.
