New Delhi, Oct 12 (IANS) Ending the suspense over seat sharing in the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the Bihar Assembly elections, BJP’s Bihar in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday announced that Nitish Kumar-led JDU and BJP will contest 101 seats each, while the remaining seats will be distributed among junior alliance partners including LJP(R), RLM and HAM.
The announcement came after a series of talks between the NDA alliance partners in both Delhi and Patna over the seat-sharing formula.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared information about seat distribution in NDA on his social media account.
“We, the NDA allies, have completed the seat distribution in a cordial atmosphere. JDU 101, BJP 101, LJP (Ram Vilas) 29, Rashtriya Lok Morcha 6 and Hindustani Awam Morcha 6,” he said in a post on X.
He further said, “NDA allies have completed the seat distribution in a cordial atmosphere. All the workers and leaders of NDA parties warmly welcome it. Bihar is ready… NDA government once again.”
Union minister Chirag Paswan of Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) also said on his X account that the NDA family is intact, and all the alliance partners will fight the elections with full strength to bring the NDA government back to power in Bihar.
Hindustani Awam Morcha led by former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi – currently a Union Minister, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) led by Upendra Kushwaha have secured 6 seats.
It is noteworthy that the first phase of Bihar assembly elections will be held on 6 November and the second phase on 11 November. Counting of votes will take place on November 14.
The Nitish Kumar-led NDA alliance and the Tejaswi Yadav-led grand alliance are seen as key players in the high-stakes contest in Bihar.
However, ‘new entrant’ Jan Suraj led by Prashant Kishor has opened the electoral field for a possible triangular contest.
