Patna, November 1 (IANS) The Election Commission of India on Saturday took major action in the Dularchand Yadav murder case in Mokama and directed the transfer of four officers including Patna Rural SP Vikram Sihag and suspension proceedings against one officer.
2022 batch IAS officer Ashish Kumar, who is currently serving as Additional Municipal Commissioner in Patna Municipal Corporation, has been posted as SDO in Barh in place of Chandan Kumar.
CID Deputy Superintendent of Police Anand Kumar Singh has been sent to the post of SDPO of Barh-1 in place of Rakesh Kumar, while ATS DSP Ayush Srivastava has been posted as SDPO of Barh-2 in place of Abhishek Singh.
The commission has also removed Patna Rural SP Vikram Sihag and has sought a detailed report on the matter by 12 noon on November 2.
This step has been taken following the earlier instructions of the Election Commission in which the DGP of Bihar and DM of Patna were asked to submit a report on the circumstances of the murder of Dural Chand Yadav.
The case pertains to clashes between supporters of JD(U) candidate Anant Singh and Jan Suraj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi alias Lallu Mukhiya in Mokama assembly constituency.
Initial claims say that Dularchand Yadav was killed by bullet injury. However, the postmortem report revealed that the fatal injury was caused by a vehicle running over his chest, resulting in multiple fractures and a punctured lung.
In Barh, in the presence of the magistrate, a panel of three doctors conducted the post-mortem of the body for about two hours.
Patna SSP Karthikeya S. Sharma confirmed that four FIRs have been registered so far – including the one filed by both the candidates, one for MCC violation, and the other related to stone pelting during clashes while taking the body for post-mortem on Friday.
Several arrests have been made and several suspects are being interrogated.
The SSP said the situation in the area is currently under control, additional police have been deployed and video footage of the incident is being analyzed.
Regarding the threat given by Dularchand’s grandson, the SSP said that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to take the law into their own hands.
He appealed to the public to avoid rumors and misinformation being spread on social media and said that two SHOs have already been suspended for negligence.
There will be further updates as the investigation progresses.
