Bihar election results: There will be change, government will be formed, said Tejashwi Yadav

Patna, Nov 14 (IANS) As counting of votes for Bihar elections continues, Grand Alliance chief ministerial candidate and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday said change is inevitable and a new government will be formed.

Speaking to IANS in Patna, he reiterated, ‘There will be change, government will be formed,’ as the counting progressed, indicating his confidence in the election result and mandate.

RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari also expressed full confidence in the performance of the grand alliance and said that a change in the government is imminent.

Tiwari told IANS, “The time Bihar was waiting for has come. We will succeed; I have full confidence. Whatever has been predicted, today the results will be in our favor. The Nitish government is bidding farewell, its time is over and a new Grand Alliance government is coming under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav.”

Adding to the opposition faction’s optimism, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) spokesperson Dev Jyoti also expressed similar sentiments.

He said, “All the poor people, all the laborers, the labor class, the lower income group and whoever believes in Ambedkar’s ideology, their government is coming. By about 10, 10.30 or 11 o’clock you will see that the Grand Alliance is forming the government.” Grand alliance constituent VIP is expected to get an early and clear lead in the initial phase of vote counting.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has set up 4,372 counting tables across the state, each of which is manned by a counting observer, assistants and micro-observers. A total of 243 returning officers and an equal number of counting observers will monitor the process in the presence of the candidates and their authorized agents. More than 18,000 counting agents have been deployed to ensure transparency.

Counting began at 8.00 am with postal ballots, followed by EVM counting at 8.30 am, complete counting of postal ballots should be done before the final round of EVM counting.

The EVM control units will be presented before the counting agents for sealing and serial-number verification, as recorded in Form 17C. In case of any mismatch, the VVPAT slips from the respective polling station will be mandatorily counted. Additionally, VVPAT verification of five random polling stations per constituency will be done after the counting of EVMs is over.

The results will be declared round-wise and constituency-wise by the respective returning officers.

The ECI has cautioned against misinformation from unofficial sources and urged the public and media to rely only on the official results portal for verified updates.
