According to the Election Commission, the ruling NDA on Friday won two-thirds majority in the Bihar Assembly elections with 168 seats in the 243-member House. BJP emerged as the largest party by winning 79 seats and is leading on 10 seats. Its ally JDU won 66 seats and was leading in 19 constituencies. LJP (RV) has won 16 seats and is leading on three, while HAM (S) has won four seats and is leading on one. The state voted in two phases on November 6 and 11 to elect members of its 243-member Legislative Assembly. The election recorded a historic turnout of 67.13%, the highest since 1951. Bhagalpur Known for its silk heritage and politically stable voting pattern, Bhagalpur has 27 assembly seats. As of 6:00 pm, JD(U) is leading with 14 seats, followed by BJP with 9 seats. LJPRV has won 2 seats, while HAMS and RJD have won one seat each, reflecting a largely stable but competitive political landscape.
Bhojpur Bhojpur, a region known for its strong political cohesion and caste-driven dynamics, has 46 assembly seats. As of 6:00 pm, BJP is leading with 19 seats, followed by JD(U) with 16 seats. RJD has secured 5 seats, while LJPRV has 3 seats. The RLM won 2 seats, and the CPI (ML-L) won 1 seat, highlighting a mix of deep constituency loyalty and competitive contests.
joke Magadha, known for its historical heritage and politically competitive scenario, has 47 assembly seats. The region often sees close battles, with voting patterns influenced by a mix of urban centres, agricultural areas and caste dynamics. As of 6:00 pm, JD(U) is leading with 15 seats, followed by BJP with 14 seats. RJD has secured 8 seats, while LJPRV has 5 seats. HAMS won 4 seats, and CPI (ML-L) won 1 seat, reflecting the diverse political leanings of the region.
mithilanchal Mithilanchal, a culturally rich region with strong political significance, comprises 37 assembly seats and often sees close contests. As of 6:00 pm, BJP is leading with 15 seats, with JD(U) at second place with 14 seats. RJD has secured 5 seats, while LJPRV, CPI(M) and RLM have won one seat each, underscoring the region’s mix of traditional loyalties and changing political priorities.
Seemanchal Seemanchal, a politically sensitive and demographically diverse region, has 37 assembly seats. Known for its significant minority population and volatile electoral fluctuations, it often sees multi-cornered contests. As of 6:00 pm, JD(U) is leading with 13 seats, followed by BJP with 8 seats. AIMIM has won 5 seats, while Congress has 4 seats. RJD and LJPRV have won 3 seats each, and IIP has won 1 seat, reflecting the region’s fragmented but competitive political landscape.
Tirhut Tirhut – which includes Muzaffarpur, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Vaishali and East and West Champaran – is the largest constituency in Bihar with 49 assembly seats. While Champaran remains the NDA stronghold, close contests are going on in Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur. The area has a diverse population of upper castes, OBCs and large EBC communities such as Dhanuk and Mallah. As of 6:00 pm, vote counting shows that BJP is leading on 27 seats, followed by JDU 13, LJPRV 5, RJD 2 and Congress and RLM one seat each.
