Bihar Election 2025: CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated the first phase of Patna Metro; Check root, stations, rent

Prior to the upcoming assembly elections in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the first phase of Patna Metro Rail Project on Monday, October 6. This initial phase of the 3.6-mm elevated stretch of the blue line will open to the public on October 7, 2025.

With the aim of reducing the traffic congestion of the city, the inauguration of the priority corridor will run from the stretch inter-state bus terminal (ISBT) to Bhutthanath station. It will cover three major stations – Palliputra ISBT, zero miles, and Bhootnath.

The inauguration of the metro was held from the Run Patliputra bus depot. Vice Presidents Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were also present at the ceremony. In February 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the metro project, which is estimated at a cost of ₹ 13,365 crore.

Keeping in mind the first project during the day, withR BJP President Dilip Jaiswal said that people will get relief from traffic jams. In a conversation with Annie, he said, “Today in the history of Patna, golden letters will be written that people of Patna, people of Bihar, are getting the facility of metro rail. Till now, we used to go to Kolkata and Delhi to see the metro rail. People will get rid of traffic jam problem.”

JD (U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Prasad also appreciated the project and said that CM Nitish Kumar has taken ‘big decisions’ for the state. “The long wait for the people of Patna is about to end. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, undoubtedly, big decisions have been taken for the state,” said Prasad.

Road and station

The first operating route covers a distance of about 4.3 km. This route runs from inter-state bus terminal (ISBT) to Bhutathnath. There are three main stations on this stretch: Palliputra ISBT, Zero Mile and Bhutathnath.

Time

Metro service runs daily from 8 am to 10 pm, with 40 to 42 trips. In the initial stage, trains are determined to run every 20 minutes.

Rent

The fare structure is based on the number of tried stations. The minimum fare for a single station ride is ₹ 15, while the maximum fare for the full route between ISBT and Bhothnath is ₹ 30.

facilities

Coaches are designed with motifs inspired BiharThe traditional pattern characteristic is Madhubani art. Each train has a seating capacity of 158 passengers, in which 12 seats are reserved for women and different individuals.

Additionally, each train has space up to 940.

Coaches have a charging point for cellphone and laptop, front emergency door and by-parting sliding doors for enhanced safety and modern facilities for passenger experience.
