Patna, Nov 24 (IANS) Taking strict action against seven senior leaders, the disciplinary committee of Bihar Congress has expelled them from the primary membership of the party for six years for anti-party activities and repeated violations of organizational discipline.
In the order issued by Disciplinary Committee Chairman Kapildev Prasad Yadav, the committee said that the explanations presented by the concerned leaders were found unsatisfactory.
His conduct violated three of the five major provisions of party discipline.
According to the committee, the expelled leaders continued to give statements outside the party platform opposing the policies and decisions of the Congress.
State Congress media cell chief Rajesh Rathore said, “He ignored the instructions issued by the competent authorities and damaged the image of the party by making unverified and misleading allegations, including claims of buying and selling tickets, in the media and social platforms.”
“The committee stressed that the party’s candidate selection process has been done with complete transparency following observer appointments, public outreach programmes, state election committee deliberations and detailed review by the All India Election Committee,” he said.
“Despite this, the leaders continued to make public statements that contradicted the decisions of the State Congress Committee, observers, the election panel and the AICC, leading to confusion within the organization. The Committee also noted that the leaders remained undisciplined even after being appointed as Assembly observers with the approval of central observer Avinash Pandey.”
Based on the evidence, the state disciplinary committee expelled Aditya Paswan – former vice president, Congress Seva Dal, Shakeelur Rahman – former vice president, Pradesh Congress, Raj Kumar Sharma – former president, Kisan Congress, Raj Kumar Rajan – former president, Pradesh Youth Congress, Kundan Gupta – former president, Extremely Backward Classes Department, Kanchana Kumari – president, Banka District Congress Committee, and Ravi Golden – Congress leader, Nalanda district.
In the recently concluded Bihar Assembly elections, Congress performed very poorly and won only six seats. The party contested elections on 61 seats in Bihar.
