New Delhi, October 6 (IANS) The long -awaited Patna Metro is ready to take a big jump on Monday as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the first operating metro route in the city.
The initial 4.5 km stretch, which is running through Zero Miles from Bhootnath station from the Paliputra Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), is part of the Red Line Corridor and marks the onset of metro services in the state capital.
With the elevated red line, a new underground corridor works. The CM will also lay the foundation stone for the 9.35 km tunnel section connecting Patna Junction with Rukunpura during the inauguration of Monday.
This historical development is expected to bring a significant change in Patna’s urban dynamics. In collaboration with Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), all the necessary preparations for the launch have been completed. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) recently approved after a successful test run.
During the first testing, a three-coach train was tested on the 800 meter track inside the depot to investigate technical and safety aspects. This was followed by extended tests on the entire route, focusing on speed, braking, power supply and overall system performance.
The metro corridor will add prominent places such as Bhootnath Road, Khemani Chak and Zero Mile. With a capacity of 300 passengers per coach, trains are designed to accommodate around 900 passengers per trip, ensuring efficient and smooth traffic during peak hours.
In particular, the metro coaches celebrate Bihar’s cultural heritage with Madhubani artwork and historical sites such as Golghar, Mahabodhi Temple, Buddha Stupa, and Naland ruins, conclusion the tradition with modern infrastructure.
Once operations, Patna Metro will offer a zero-furore, high-capacity transport option, aims to reduce city roads and change everyday travel to thousands of residents.
