Patna, Nov 20 (IANS) Nitish Kumar on Thursday took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 10th time, a historic milestone in the state’s politics, and along with him, 26 ministers were inducted into the newly formed cabinet of the NDA government.
The cabinet includes 14 ministers from BJP, 8 from JDU, 2 from LJP (RV), 1 from RLM and 1 from HAM.
Among the members of the new cabinet, Samrat Chaudhary has emerged as the second most influential leader after Nitish Kumar.
He won from Tarapur Assembly constituency in Munger district and has been appointed Deputy Chief Minister for the second time.
His promotion confirms his growing stature within Bihar’s BJP and the broader NDA alliance.
Another senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha also took oath as Deputy Chief Minister. He won from Lakhisarai assembly seat as a BJP candidate.
Sinha, who held the same post in the previous government, has retained his role in the new cabinet, a sign of continuity and the party’s confidence in his leadership.
In Bihar, senior BJP leader Mangal Pandey had contested the 2025 assembly elections from Siwan constituency.
A prominent face of the party, he had previously served as the state health minister.
Sanjay Singh Tiger also took oath as a minister in the new Nitish Kumar government.
He has previously served as MLA from Sandesh assembly constituency, and his inclusion reflects the BJP’s focus on leaders with strong regional influence.
International shooting champion and BJP MLA from Jamui Shreyasi Singh has been elected for the second consecutive time.
Now he has been included in the cabinet, which shows his growing stature in state politics.
Senior JDU MLA Leshi Singh from Dhamdaha in Purnia district has once again secured the post of minister.
Known for her closeness to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, she previously served as the Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs.
BJP state president and MLC from Kishanganj district Dilip Jaiswal has also taken oath as a cabinet minister, highlighting the party’s confidence in organizational leaders.
Veteran BJP leader and former Union Minister Ramkripal Yadav has made a political comeback through the Assembly.
After losing the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to Misa Bharti in Patliputra, he contested from Danapur assembly seat and defeated RJD’s Reet Lal Yadav.
His victory has given him a ministerial berth in the new Nitish Kumar government.
Nitin Naveen, who contested from Bankipur assembly seat on BJP ticket, has taken oath as cabinet minister in the new Nitish Kumar government.
A prominent face of the BJP in Patna and other urban areas, he had previously served as the Road Works Minister.
Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, a trusted aide of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has won the elections from Sarairanjan assembly constituency on JDU ticket.
In the previous cabinet he held the portfolio of Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs.
Deepak Prakash Kushwaha, son of Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha, has also been inducted as a cabinet minister.
Despite not being an MLA or MLC, he has taken oath and is expected to be elected to the Legislative Council within six months.
Bijendra Prasad Yadav, another close aide of Nitish Kumar, has retained his cabinet post. Representing the Supaul constituency, he served as the Energy Minister in the previous government.
Senior JDU leader from Nalanda district and MLA from Nalanda assembly constituency Shravan Kumar has once again been included in the cabinet.
Earlier he held the Rural Development Department.
Ashok Chaudhary, considered one of the most influential leaders in the Nitish Kumar government, has also taken oath as a minister.
An MLC, he recently faced corruption charges leveled by Prashant Kishor.
Chaudhary has previously represented the Barbigha constituency as an MLA twice and previously served as the Minister of Rural Affairs.
Jama Khan, the only Muslim face in the new cabinet, has taken oath as minister from JDU quota.
He won the 2025 assembly elections from Chainpur constituency in Kaimur district.
In 2020, he had won from the same seat on a BSP ticket before joining JDU.
Madan Sahni, who won the 2025 assembly elections from Bahadurpur constituency of Darbhanga district on JDU ticket, has been included in the new cabinet. Sahni had earlier served as social welfare minister in the Nitish Kumar government.
BJP MLC Pramod Kumar in Bihar has also taken oath as a minister in the newly formed government.
BJP MLA from Khajauli constituency of Madhubani district, Arun Shankar Prasad has made it to the cabinet by winning the seat for the third consecutive time.
Surendra Mehta, who won from Bachhwara assembly constituency of Begusarai district, has taken oath as minister. He previously served as the Sports Minister.
Senior BJP leader Narayan Prasad has been elected for the fourth time from Nautan assembly constituency and has once again taken oath as a cabinet minister.
Rama Nishad, who is contesting for the first time on BJP ticket from Aurai assembly seat of Muzaffarpur district, has won.
She is the wife of former BJP MP Ajay Nishad, who represented Muzaffarpur in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Lakhendra Kumar Roshan, who was elected for the second time on BJP ticket from Patepur assembly constituency, has been made cabinet minister in the new government.
Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) national president and MLC Santosh Kumar Suman has also taken oath as a cabinet minister.
He has held ministerial responsibilities in earlier governments.
With the 10th swearing-in of Nitish Kumar and the induction of a socially diverse and politically balanced Council of Ministers, the new NDA government has formally taken charge in Bihar.
