Sri Lanka’s star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga may miss another week of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Sunrisers Hyderabad as he hopes to Consulted an overseas doctor for chronic pain in his left heel. Hasaranga recently featured in Sri Lanka’s white-ball series against Bangladesh, but according to ESPNcricinfo, he did so while enduring immense pain. In the six matches played in the limited overs format, Hasaranga took eight wickets, six of which came in the ODI series and two in the T20Is. ESPNcricinfo revealed that Sri Lanka Cricket’s medical staff assessed Hasaranga and they suspected that the pain was due to wear and tear on the musculoskeletal mechanism of the left heel.

ESPNcricinfo further reported that doctors at SLC advised Hasaranga to seek medical advice to understand the nature of the injury and how to deal with it.

Hasaranga is yet to join the SRH battalion and no date has been set for his arrival. His latest setback may hamper his chances of playing in the upcoming T20 World Cup in June.

The 26-year-old was the star performer for Royal Challengers Bangalore last season and he ended the season with 26 wickets at an economy rate of 7.54.

Recently, he was deducted three points and banned twice for dissenting with the umpire’s decision in the third ODI against Bangladesh.

The incident occurred in the 37th round of the match when Hasaranga snatched his hat from a referee and taunted the referee during the match. Bangladesh won the series 2-1 by four wickets.

He was fined 50% and deducted 3 points for the violation. This brings his total to eight points in 24 months.

The all-rounder has been deducted five points after scoring three runs in the third T20I against Afghanistan in Dambulla last month. After that, he was banned twice against Bangladesh. With the addition of the most recent demerit, he has now exceeded the 8-point limit, which has been converted into 4 suspension points under Article 7.6 of the Code.
