Bhimesh Sharma gives flags to farmers for field visit; Push to adopt modern agricultural practices

Srinagar, July 15, KDC: Secretary Jammu -Kashmir Advisory Board for Development for Farmers, Bhmesh Sharma, Director Horticulture, Kashmir, Vikas Anand, today, “Best Field Practice” was flagged off 40 progressive farmers from the horticulture sector for a day area.

Along with focusing on “how to double the income of farmers”, the Directorate of Education was organized in collaboration with the University of Sher-e-Kashmir, Agricultural Science and Technology (Skit) Kashmir.

Bhumesh Sharma highlighted the importance of such exposure programs for farmers. He informed that the board has played an important role in presenting the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir with the latest research work and best field practices prepared by scientists and technocrats of Jammu and Kashmir.

He emphasized the need to familiarizing farmers with modern agricultural technology so that they managed to double their income, contributed to permanent agricultural development in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Secretary advised the farmers to make better use of the government’s initiative and take full advantage of the schemes available under HADP in agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, floriculture, animal husbandry, sheep and HADP. He asked the farmers to adopt integrated farming in their fields, which will enable them to double the income of their farm.

He said that more than 90% of the population of Jammu and Kashmir is directly or indirectly associated with agriculture and has been fragmented with the development of population land and now on average there are land holdings ranging from 10 to 20 kanals in each family. Therefore, there is a need to adopt multi -crop and integrate farming approaches. In addition, we should find out better marketing for our surplus crops, he said.

Director Horticulture Kashmir appreciated the initiative of the Farmers Advisory Board for organizing such farmers’ friendly awareness programs. He provoked the farmers to take full advantage of this one -day travel cum training program.
