Between the toxic relations of the parents, the girl was killed, the court told

Web Desk, 02/09/2025

A court has heard that a three-month-old child was killed after being caught in the middle of his parents in the middle of the toxic relationship.

Kailani Kalanji was known for social services and was on a child protection scheme when she was admitted to the hospital on 8 July last year, which was violently shaken with an impact on her head, stating the gamblers.

He suffered a broken leg and ribs along with horrific brain injuries, and died in the hospital 15 days later.

Kaylani’s parents Herbert Kalanzi, 35, and 24 -year -old Nazli Merathoka are accused of allowing or allowing her death and allowing her death.

Opening his old belly trial on Tuesday, prosecutor Zo Johnson KC said that the defendants were in “mutually derogatory relationship” with drugs that consumed Martoka.

As a result, Kayalani was unable to put her first and protect her from harm to her parents’ disability, as the gamblers were told.

The prosecutor told the gamblers that their relationship was “out of control”, Kailani was “caught in the middle of it”.

Kayalani was born prematurely and spent 29 days in a special care baby unit at North Midlsex Hospital before allowing a house on 13 May 2024.

Social services were involved with the family and after showing the defendants, Kailani’s custody was allowed that they were fit parents, the gamblers heard.

However, the messages of WhatsApp and Snapchat were exposed after his arrest, the limit of their unstable relations was detected, it was alleged.

On June 17, 2024, Kalanji shut down Merathoka, which to complain about the closure, saying “What do you think?”

Methoka told her that she was going to call the police and Kalanji called her “dumb” and replied: “If you go to the police, you lose everything. We do not have about domestic to move forward like social.”

Kayalani’s mother accused her partner of hurting her child and said: “SIC for her dead (SIC).”

He said to him: “You have hurt Kailani eye. WTF I am reporting this. You gave him a black eye and blood.”

In a Snapchat video taken in the initial hours, Kilani was lying on a pillow with a visible eye injury, the gamblers were told.

Methoka went away: “He is hurt well as his head. When the doors are closed, you will not be able to sleep. He was not worth it.”

Soon after, she allegedly discovered the Internet for “what to do if Baby Ko Blood Shot Eye” and “Baby I Injury Red Spot”.

Two days later, the defendants took Kayalani to see a GP with redness on their eyes, stating that an older child was accidentally killed.

The court was told that Kalanji had always denied being responsible for the injury, claiming that it was an accident.

Ms. Johnson told the gamblers: “The eye injury in itself was minor, but it is a graphic example of the disability of the defendants in proper care for Kayalani and their failure to take action to protect and remove her from danger.

“On July 8, 2024, sometimes the risk for Kailani became a fatal reality.”

Shortly before 10.30, the defendants asked emergency services, stating that Kayalani had stopped breathing.

When the paramedics arrived, the couple failed to inform them that Kilani was shaken, causing bleeding to the brain, damaging his eyes and his tibia and ribs were told to the court.

Ms. Johnson said: “Her efforts to protect yourself, you can think, unlike Kayalani’s ability to protect.”

The jury was told that the defendants refused to injure Kailani in Methoka’s grandmother’s flat in Homerton, East London, where the family was living at that time.

Ms. Johnson said: “One of them is lying. One of them did so. But only they know who the criminal is.”

He told the gamblers that medical experts had denied accidental injury, so it was the primary issue for them to decide that Kislani shook.

He said: “There is no witness about what happened in that bedroom, in a very short time to shake Kayalani, at this level the prosecution cannot point to one or other defendants and can say that ‘you did’.”

However, he suggested that Kayalani would be killed when the parents responsible for the killing of the parents had heard all the evidence.

The defendants from East Ham, East London have denied allegations against him.
