Toronto has handed over the key to the city to the Oscar winner director Guillermo del Toro in the recognition of its intimacy to make a film here.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow presented a Mexican -born filmmaker with formal honors on Thursday morning, stating that her history of film production in Toronto has made a job and supported a local screen industry.
In accepting the key, Dell Toro said he loves Toronto and considers it “the best place to make movies”.
The presentation took place at the Waterfront CIINESPACE Studio, stating that the “Shape of Water” is changing the name of four sound stages to pay tribute to the author-director.
Dell Toro says he has spent almost half of his 30-year career films in Toronto, including 2009 Effects-Laden Action Film “Pacific Rim” and 2017 fantasy “The Shape of the Water”, which netted the Oscar for the best director and best images.
This is followed by his Netflix film “Frankstein”, which is shown as Jacob Alardi as the title Monster, which will end in the Toronto Video Production Studio Company 3.
“Frankstein” is obliged for the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Dell Toro said during the ceremony, “I have loved Toronto for so many years and I’m so happy that it loves me back.”
“It is not only as a great city to make a film, but also to celebrate the film,” he said.
