Holidaymakers are returning to booking via the high street travel agencyaccording to a new survey Which?.
The consumer champion surveyed more than 2,500 people about their experiences with high street travel agents. About 94% of customers said they were “satisfied.”
When asked why, 60% said they wanted to “discuss their options with a real person” and 36% chose a travel agent due to “complexity of the itinerary”.
Now, which one? The best travel agents to book your holiday with, from national brands to family-run shops, revealed.
Trailfinders topped the list with a score of 90% for agents who “went the extra mile” across its 47 stores.
Miles Morgan Travel followed closely behind with a score of 87%, earning perfect scores for customer service and quality of travel provided.
In the north of England, Althams Travel also impressed with its “seamless booking experience” and “high level of customer service”, scoring 85%.
Co-op Travel, Fred Olsen Travel and Hays Travel received a customer service rating of 84%, each receiving five stars.
Which are Trailfinders, Miles Morgan Travel, Althams Travel and Hays Travel? Recommended Provider (WRP).
According to consumer advocates, Co-op Travel and Fred Olsen are not WRP travel agents because they “do not promise never to charge customers surcharges”.
Lower ranked Flight Center and Virgin Holidays still achieved high scores of 76%.
The Which? survey showed value for money was all rated four stars among providers surveyed.

“It’s an opportunity to go have a cup of tea in the local high street and chat to someone who knows where you want to go.”
Boland added: “With any travel agent you use, always check on the Civil Aviation Authority website whether the package you are buying is from an ATOL-protected provider. This will ensure your money is safe if you book a package and the operator goes bankrupt.”
