Senior IPS officer Pratap Reddy, who is currently the Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka Internal Security Department, has sought Voluntary Retirement (VRS) over alleged differences with his superiors.

Reddy’s move raised eyebrows as he applied for VRS a few months before his natural retirement in May this year. Sources said he took the move because of an alleged disagreement with a senior.

Reacting to the development, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said it was a personal decision of the senior police officer and he was aware of the reasons why he took this action.

Pratap Reddy is a Btech who started his career as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Karnataka cadre and solved many major cases as Superintendent of Police (SP) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer . The senior police officer has also served in the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Bengaluru and Mumbai.

Pratap Reddy, a recipient of presidential and chief ministerial awards, is known for solving many banking and cybersecurity frauds. Pratap Reddy has written to the state home department seeking his removal on April 30, just a month after his natural retirement.
