The incident happened at around 1.30 pm on Saturday night in the office of a company named Data Digital Bank located in Saraswati Nagar.
The deceased has been identified as Bhimesh Babu, a resident of Chitradurga, who managed a digital vault and photo-editing firm near MC Layout. On the other hand, the accused was identified as Somala Vamshi, 24, a technical executive from Andhra Pradesh, resident of Nayandahalli. Vamshi surrendered at Govindrajnagar police station soon after committing the crime.
According to a report in The Indian Express, police said Babu was sensitive to bright lights and would often ask colleagues to turn them off when not needed.
Police said that on the night of the incident, Babu asked Vamshi to switch off the lights while Vamshi was editing the video, leading to a heated argument.
A fight broke out between Vamshi and Babu, during which Vamshi allegedly threw chilli powder at his colleague and hit him on the head with an iron dumbbell taken from the room.
According to a police officer, Vamshi was angry and punched Babu several times on his head, face and chest. After Babu fell, Vamshi panicked and told one of his colleagues. They took Babu to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Deputy Commissioner of Police S Girish said that the police have registered a case of murder and the accused has been sent to judicial custody.
