Bengaluru Police has registered a case against Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, senior officer Subrata Kumar Das and the company following the death by suicide of 38-year-old homologation engineer K Arvind on September 28, 2025.

Arvind, who was working at the Koramangala office of Ola Electric since 2022, consumed poison at his Chikkalasandra home. Friends took him to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, where despite treatment, he died at around 12:45 pm. The police initially filed an unnatural death report (UDR).

Arvind’s brother found a 28-page handwritten note in which Arvind blamed Aggarwal and Das for mental harassment, excessive work pressure and unpaid salaries and allowances, and said that these factors had led him to take his life.

On 30th September, Rs 17,46,313 were transferred to Arvind’s bank account through NEFT, which his brother found suspicious. When he asked for clarification, Das reportedly gave vague responses.

Three representatives of Ola – Kritesh Desai, Parmesh and Roshan – later met the family, but did not give any clear details about the transfer, raising concerns over the company’s intentions.

Following the brother’s complaint, the police filed an FIR under BNSS Section 108 along with 3(5) at Subramanyapura police station on October 6, 2025, accusing Aggarwal, Das and Ola Electric of abetment of suicide.

The FIR claims that continuous harassment, humiliation and financial exploitation by Arvind’s superiors led to his death. The family demanded legal action against those responsible.

Ola Electric issued a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate demise of our colleague Arvind and our thoughts are with his family.” The company said Arvind, who was employed at the Bengaluru headquarters for more than three-and-a-half years, never reported harassment or employment issues and had no direct contact with top management, including Agarwal.

Ola explained the bank transfer as full and final settlement to support the family.

The company said it has challenged the FIR against its founder and others in the Karnataka High Court and protective orders have been granted. Ola said it immediately facilitated full and final settlement of Arvind’s bank account and is cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.
