On Tuesday, it came to light that an under-construction building collapsed in Bengaluru, killing five workers. The incident took place during heavy rains in Hennur area of the city. The accident happened late Tuesday night. News was received that one worker died and seven workers were trapped. Late at night, eight workers were rescued from the rubble.
Bangalore police confirmed
Deputy Mayor DK Shivakumar said rescue operations are on after an under-construction building collapsed in Horamavu Agra area in east Bengaluru. The death toll from the accident had risen to five on Wednesday morning. This information has been provided by Bengaluru Police. The police have announced the names of the deceased, including Arman, Tripal, Mohammad Sahil and Satyaraju. The government has pledged assistance to the families of the victims.
Fire and emergency services teams are at the scene. Deputy Minister Shivkumar said: “I was informed that this is an illegal construction and no permission has been obtained.” Then, stop all illegal construction and conduct an investigation. I will also request the sub-registrar not to transfer the land. Of course, action will be taken against officials, contractors and owners.
20 workers are working in the building
Ahmed has a contract for on-site tile construction. He claimed that 20 workers, including tile workers, concrete workers and plumbers, were working on the building when it collapsed. Ahmed claimed that the basement was weak, causing the building to collapse. The building was originally to have seven floors, but sources revealed that permission was granted for only four floors. Despite this, construction violations occurred.
The situation worsened due to heavy rain
Heavy rains in Bengaluru disrupted life in many parts of the city on Tuesday. Due to waterlogging, roads turned into rivers, and many photos emerged of vehicles half-submerged. In videos shared on social media, people can be seen complaining of water accumulation in their houses due to heavy rains.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told a press conference that the heavy rain situation is being continuously monitored. “We are paying close attention to the development. All necessary preparations have been made. The affected areas are being investigated and rescue measures will be implemented as soon as possible,” he said.
