Bengaluru man tries to smother wife, pours instant glue into her mouth suspecting infidelity

BENGALURU: A 38-year-old carpenter, G Siddalinga Swamy, was arrested for allegedly attempting to smother his wife and pouring instant adhesive glue into her mouth at their residence in Harokyatanahalli, Nelamangala, Bengaluru Rural.
His wife, 33-year-old Manjula, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. According to doctors, she is out of danger.

What’s the Most Important Step to Prevent Domestic Violence?

The investigation revealed that the couple hails from Raichur and had a love marriage. Family sources informed the police about their relationship. Authorities are looking into the motive behind the attack. Further legal proceedings are underway as police continue their probe into the shocking incident.
“They had no children and Swamy often suspected Manjula’s fidelity. On Sunday night, they fought over the same issue. When Manjula was asleep, Swamy first tried to smother her. When she lost consciousness, Swamy poured the glue he used for wood work into her mouth. According to Swamy, he did it thinking the liquid would arrest her nerves and kill her by stopping her breathing,” a police officer said.
Thinking she was dead, Swamy walked into Madanayakanahalli police station late Sunday night and surrendered himself. “I killed my wife as she had an affair,” was all Swamy said.
A police officer said: “We found Manjula still breathing, and fortunately, we had taken an ambulance with us when we rushed to the couple’s house. Washing her mouth with hot water in the moving ambulance, we tried to ease her breathing. Then we shifted Manjula to a hospital.”
2018 Madhya Pradesh incident
Furious over being nagged for his drinking habit, a man in Vidisha allegedly killed his wife in a horrifying manner—by sealing her nose, eyes, and mouth shut with super glue.
The shocking crime came to light when the couple’s 15-year-old son informed the police. Officers arriving at the scene were horrified by the gruesome sight, with one witness describing it as beyond his worst nightmares. The accused, 43-year-old Halkeram Kushwah, had fled before the police arrived, and search teams have been deployed to track him down.
According to the teenager, his father was an alcoholic who frequently tortured his mother, 34-year-old Durga. She often tried to stop him from drinking, leading to frequent arguments. After another heated quarrel, Halkeram sent his son to a relative’s house. When the boy returned, he found his mother dead.
Forensic experts confirmed that Durga’s mouth, nose, and eyes had been sealed with super glue. They stated that while the adhesive can be removed with hot water or nail polish remover, it would have been impossible for Durga to free herself without assistance.
Police believe Halkeram was enraged by his wife’s constant objections to his drinking. He has been booked for murder.
