Kolkata, Nov 24 (IANS) Kolkata Police has arrested a man from Mumbai for having sex with a woman after promising her marriage. Police gave this information on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Deep Chakraborty.
The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman at Kasba Police Station in Kolkata.
According to the police, as soon as the woman pressured him to fulfill the promise of marriage, the accused left his job in Kolkata and went to Mumbai.
After reaching there, he changed his mobile number and also found a new job.
Police said that the accused had also planned to flee abroad.
However, the investigators befriended the accused by chatting on social media and learned about his new workplace.
Police said the complainant is a colleague of the accused at his workplace in Kolkata.
Both of them used to meet every day and gradually a friendship developed between them.
As their closeness grew, both of them went to many places together.
It is alleged that the accused had physical relations with a female colleague at different times after promising to marry her.
When the woman pressured Deep for marriage, he tried to break the relationship with her.
Not only this, he left his job in Kolkata overnight and came to Mumbai.
He also managed to get a job in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, after being unable to contact Deep, the woman finally lodged a complaint against him at Kasba police station.
On the basis of the complaint, the police has started investigating the matter.
However, the investigating officers had to struggle a lot to reach the accused.
It was revealed that the police officers started contacting Deep under a pseudonym.
The accused also replied and started chatting.
From there the police officers came to know about the workplace of the accused.
Police officials called the company where the accused was employed in Mumbai and confirmed his employment.
Later a team of police officers from Kasba police station went to Mumbai. They came to know that Deep was preparing to flee abroad and his visa had also been made.
A senior Kolkata Police official said, “Before he could go abroad, our officers arrested him and brought him from Mumbai to Kolkata. The accused is being interrogated.”
