Kolkata, Nov 17 (IANS) The son-in-law of West Bengal Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose on Monday appeared before Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in the Municipal Corporation recruitment scam case.
Bose’s son-in-law Rahul Singh appeared before the ED’s eastern headquarters at CGO Complex in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area in the afternoon.
There was tight security outside the office since Monday morning.
Rahul Singh remained present inside the ED office for about an hour.
ED sources said that many documents of big financial transactions in the Municipal Corporation recruitment scam have recently come into the hands of the investigators.
The Central Investigation Agency collected those documents by conducting searches at various places in the state.
After analyzing several documents, bank transaction papers and electronic information recovered during the search, it is believed that the money from this recruitment scam was used in several businesses of the minister’s family members.
To verify that information, ED officials summoned Rahul Singh on Monday.
Coming out of the ED office, Rahul Singh told a section of media persons, “Today I have come here after being called by the officials. I have brought the documents that were asked for.”
However, it is worth noting that the ED has summoned not only Rahul Singh but also the wife, son and daughter of the state Fire Services Minister separately this week.
The investigators will also interrogate him on the scheduled date.
According to ED sources, notice has already been sent to them.
According to sources, he will be present at CGO Complex till this week.
The investigating agency said it is not possible to understand the entire money flow without interrogating the family members of the minister of state. Therefore, it is important for investigators to interrogate each family member separately.
ED has been investigating the Municipal Corporation recruitment scam case for a long time.
Many people including businessman Ayan Sil have been arrested in the case.
Based on the information received after interrogating him, ED officials are gradually getting closer to the root of the scam.
After investigation, Sujit Bose’s name came up in the Municipal Corporation recruitment scam case.
The allegation was that the minister’s name was involved in recruitment corruption in South Dum Dum Municipality.
Last year, ED officials had raided the house and office of the Minister of State.
In October this year, ED officials had again raided the minister’s office.
The ED visited minister Sujit Bose’s office in Salt Lake, a lawyer’s house in New Alipore and Nagerbazar and Trinamool Congress councilor Nitai Dutta’s house.
It was revealed that the raids were conducted in two different cases, including the Municipal Corporation recruitment scam case.
During the search, some important diaries, digital data, transaction documents and information related to suspicious financial transactions were found.
According to investigators, the decision to interrogate the minister’s family was taken after examining these documents in detail.
