Bengal: Car fast kills three, injures seven other people in Jalpaiguri

Kolkata, 2 October (IANS) A tragic road accident occurred on the evening of Dashami as a car entered a shop among the crowd, killing three people and injuring seven others when he was killed by a careless car, who came to meet Durga Puja.

The incident took place on Thursday evening in the area adjacent to Bridge number two on Asian Highway 4 from Dhupguri to Managuri in Jalpaguri district.

Police officers reached the spot after receiving the news of the accident. The initial belief of the police is that the incident may be due to loss in the control of the car.

An official said that the police started an investigation, stating that the driver of the car is absconding and a discovery has been started to arrest him. The incident has caused panic in the area.

According to the police, people were out to visit Pooja Mandaps and engaged in idol immersion. An SUV came at a very fast pace and went straight to a shop on the roadside. However, many people stood on the roadside in a queue to visit a puja pavilion, and the killers were thrown completely on the other side due to the impact of the car.

After the accident, the driver ran away. The locals initially did the rescue work and sent the injured to nearby hospitals.

A senior official of the Jalpaiguri District Police said that a high -speed car entered a shop, stating that many people who were standing there were killed.

He said, “Three people died. Nearly seven people were injured. They are currently treating in a hospital. We have registered a case against the driver of the car. He is absconding. One search is to catch him,” he said.
