Kolkata, October 16 (IANS) Former BJP Lok Sabha member from Barrackpore Arjun Singh on Thursday informed the Election Commission of India (ECI) about a Pakistani national from Karachi becoming a voter in Naihati assembly constituency of the same district in West Bengal.
In a letter to West Bengal Chief Electoral Office (CEO) Monoj Aggarwan, she identified the Pakistani national who became a voter in Naihati as Saleha Khatoon alias Saleha Imran.
In the letter, Singh had claimed that Saleha Khatoon, holding Pakistani passport number EU4173171, had fraudulently obtained Indian identity documents such as Aadhaar card (number 2797 4242 4102) and an EPIC card (Voter ID number FKY0779223).
According to Singh’s letter, the address of the Pakistani national mentioned in the Indian identity documents is 23, AT Ghosh Road, Naihati (M), Gorifa, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, 743166.
“His EPIC is registered in 104-Naihati assembly constituency,” Singh’s letter said.
This fraudulent activity is a gateway to access other Indian social schemes and is a direct threat to the demographic and security structure of the country.
He had also urged the CEO office to initiate a high-level and time-bound investigation to identify the election officials who had helped Saleha Khatoon get her name registered in the voter list of West Bengal.
He had also called for immediate cancellation of EPIC cards and a strong recommendation to UIDAI to cancel the Aadhaar cards held by Saleha Imran and her children, Yawar Imran and Jazba Imran.
According to former BJP MP Arjun Singh, this case is one of several examples of foreign nationals, mainly from Pakistan, working in the border districts of West Bengal, including North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Murshidabad, Malda, Nadia, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri, obtaining fake Indian identity documents from them and enrolling as voters in the state.
“This fraudulent activity is a gateway to access other Indian social schemes and is a direct threat to the demographic and security structure of the country,” Singh said in the letter.
