Patna, November 5 (IANS) Defense Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh on Wednesday claimed that the trends emerging ahead of the first phase of voting in Bihar clearly indicate that the NDA will return to power with a two-thirds majority.
Addressing an election rally in support of the NDA candidate in Banka, Singh said the NDA government under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been in power in Bihar for the last 20 years and no one can level corruption charges against him.
He said that earlier there was a Chief Minister of RJD who had to stay in jail for a long time.
Without naming Tejashwi Yadav, Singh said the opposition’s current CM faces corruption cases too, and a verdict in those cases is inevitable.
The Defense Minister said that Bihar once struggled for basic facilities, but there have been significant changes in the last two decades.
He said, “Earlier RJD leaders used to say that police would reach villages only after roads are built. That era is over. Now roads, bridges, electricity and health facilities are available everywhere in Bihar.”
Singh said that Bihar’s health budget has increased from Rs 700 crore earlier to more than Rs 20,000 crore and power supply has improved significantly.
He said, “People used to use lanterns then. Today, there is a network of roads and bridges. Earlier death used to run on the streets of Patna, now the metro rail is running.”
Attacking the Congress, Singh said that the party had also opposed the construction of roads in the border areas.
He said, “No one can deny this truth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed this anti-development mentality. Today India is progressing rapidly.”
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Rajnath Singh said that the neighboring country will not dare to make such an attempt again.
“If they do so, they should remember that Operation Sindoor is not over yet,” he warned.
He said that India’s global credibility and reputation has increased in recent years.
Singh also said that the Indian Army believes in only one religion – the religion of the uniform.
He cautioned the opposition against dividing the armed forces on religious or ethnic lines.
