Jaipur, Oct 17 (IANS) The electricity connection at the Nagaur residence of Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) supremo and MP Hanuman Beniwal was restored by the discom on Friday evening, following the order of a double bench of the Rajasthan High Court.

Discom Superintending Engineer Ashok Chaudhary said that the double bench has slightly amended the earlier single bench order and directed that a bank guarantee of Rs 4 lakh should be given.

Although the order was issued on October 10, its copy reached the discom on Friday. The connection registered in the name of MP’s brother Premsukh Beniwal was reconnected the same evening.

Chaudhary said Rs 2 lakh had already been deposited and the court directed that the case be disposed of within 15 days. The Discom will be entitled to utilize the bank guarantee amount after the settlement process. The controversy started when the electricity bill of about Rs 11 lakh became outstanding at the MP’s residence.

Connection holder Premsukh Beniwal had demanded disposal by depositing Rs 2 lakh in March 2025. Despite this, the discom disconnected the power supply without any prior notice after almost three months – an action MP Beniwal described as “inappropriate”.

Beniwal challenged the disconnection in the High Court, where the single bench initially ordered an advance deposit of Rs 6 lakh.

The order was followed by an appeal before the double bench, which directed the power supply to be reconnected on October 10 on depositing a bank guarantee of Rs 4 lakh.

MP Beniwal said the court had ruled in their favour, but due to the discom’s delay they were forced to run the generator for 105 days.
