Lucknow, October 10 (IANS) As assembly elections are to be held in two phases in Bihar next month, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday said that the people of the state do not want the return of the ‘Jungle Raj’ of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), when ‘mafia and criminals were in power.’
The UP Deputy CM made this comment in a post in Hindi on social media platform ‘X’.
As the political temperature is rising in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections to be held on November 6 and 11, various political parties are trying to woo voters to vote.
Maurya’s comments assume significance as RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has been insisting that people want a change in administration in Bihar.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav has been saying in all his election rallies that people are fed up with rising unemployment and inflation in the state.
Notably, Tejashwi Yadav had promised to provide one government job per family in the state if RJD comes to power in Bihar to woo voters.
Addressing the media in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav said that the proposal was made after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct and it was scientifically researched and practically feasible.
The RJD leader had said, “We have made this important promise after the election date was announced. It is possible and based on thorough research. After the results are declared on November 14 and our government is formed, we will make a law within 20 days to provide one government job per family in Bihar, irrespective of age, caste or community.”
On Thursday, Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal had said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will announce its seat sharing formula and list of candidates in the next two to three days.
Hitting out at Tejashwi Yadav over his promise of providing a government job to one member of every family, Jaiswal said the claim is unrealistic.
Calling this promise childish and impractical, Jaiswal said that RJD leaders do not understand that posts in government service are limited.
Rejecting Tejashwi Yadav’s claim that people want change in Bihar, Jaiswal said, “Development means Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The way they have transformed Bihar’s road infrastructure shows their commitment. People have faith in PM Modi’s guarantees and the double engine government.”
The results of Bihar assembly elections will be declared on 14 November.
