New Delhi, 6 October (IANS) Bar Council of India (BCI) on Monday suspended lawyer Rakesh Kishore with immediate effect after attempting to attack the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Br Gavai inside the Supreme Court.
In a letter issued to advocate Rakesh Kishore and Delhi’s Bar Council, BCI President Manan Kumar Mishra said that Kishore’s conduct was incompatible with his rules on professional conduct and courtesy and court dignity standards.
“It appears that on 6 October 2025 at around 11.35 pm, in the court number 1 of the Supreme Court of India, AAP i.e. Advocate Rakesh Kishore, Delhi’s Bar Council was nominated with the Bar Council of Delhi. Advocate Rakesh Kishore has been suspended from practice with immediate effect,” the interim order said.
During the period of suspension, the teenager flows from any court, tribunal, or authority in India, acting, petitioning or practicing.
The BCI asked the Delhi Bar Council to ensure immediate compliance of its interim order by updating its position on its role and informing all the courts and tribunals within its jurisdiction.
The suspension order is to be broadcast to the Supreme Court Bar Association including the Supreme Court, all the High Courts and the registries of all the district courts, all the district courts, along with the concerned bar associations.
The order states that any identity card, proximity pass or access by any court or Bar Association will remain inactive during the operation of this order in the capacity of a lawyer. ,
It also motivates the teenager to file an affidavit of compliance within 48 hours of service, confirming that he is not visible in any case during the suspension period.
One reason will be issued notice, in which it will need to explain within 15 days that suspension should not be issued and further disciplinary action should be taken.
The BCI clarified, “This order is interim and without prejudice for any action under the General Law or Advocates Act, 1961,” BCI clarified.
