Kolkata, Nov 4 (IANS) The presence of a Bangladeshi man in the state has come to light on the first day of the Special Intensive Receipt (SIR) exercise held in West Bengal on Tuesday.
Interestingly, in his voter ID card, by mistake his father-in-law was written as his father and his mother-in-law became his mother.
Not only this, the person’s name was also changed in the voter ID card.
After this revelation, there was an uproar in Hingalganj area of Basirhat in North 24 Parganas district on Tuesday.
Local sources said that Rashidul Ghazi is originally a resident of Bangladesh.
This person, resident of Satkhira district, is accused of illegally crossing the border and entering India in 2012.
After entering from Basirhat area, he reportedly went to Tamil Nadu for work.
There he met Rumesh, a resident of Hingalganj, Basirhat.
The girl had also come there for work. Later a romantic relationship developed between the two.
It was revealed that Rashidul had come to Hingalganj with the girl.
Due to their love, both of them decided to get married.
However, the problem remained as his future son-in-law is a resident of Bangladesh.
Therefore, an identity card of this country is necessary.
Sources said that the voter identity card has been made by twisting and turning.
Rashidul’s name was changed a few days after the marriage.
His new name became Abdul Ghazi.
Surprisingly, his name was also in the voter list of booth number 208 in Paschimpara, Hingalganj.
After receiving information about the discrepancy in the identity card, the matter reached the local police.
A senior official of Basirhat district police said, “We have come to know about this. We are investigating the matter. No formal complaint has been registered in this regard so far.”
The matter has now come to the notice of the district administration.
